Artist Spotlight: Mauro Corveloni
“I always try to put soul into my characters—some special qualities that you see come across even in a still image.”
While Brazilian 3D Artist Mauro Corveloni has always been interested in art, when it comes to 3D modeling and animation, his interest rises to the level of a passion. Known professionally as Maurocor, this São Paulo artist operates POP Studio de Ilustração (POP Illustration Studio) and he’s amassed an intriguing and impressive 3D portfolio.
In his 15 year professional career, he’s contributed unique and imaginative 3D works—created using LightWave 3D—to diverse projects, including visual effects-intensive TV commercials, a music video, a short film and 3D product shots for advertising.

New Deadline: LightWave 2015 Show Reel Call for Content
The LightWave 3D Group is working on its 2015 Show Reel and would like to see your best LightWave 3D animation, stills, show reels and demo reels from the past year for consideration. We are accepting content from all types of projects created with LightWave 3D—from VFX, Mograph, and Games to Archviz, Product Design, and Medical Visualization. Show us what you’ve got! Fuzzy Frog Gets Game with LightWave 3D
UK-based Fuzzy Frog has released a new game titled Ronaldo & Hugo: Superstar Skaters, whic was created with LightWave 3D and Unity. No stranger to creating unique games, one of its most notable being Real Scary Spiders (created in conjunction with Animal Planet and Toys-R-Us), the team also received the Best Animation and Gaming Project award at the 2014 Digital Entrepreneur Awards. The 3D Awards 2015 Noms are In!
For the second year in a row, the 3D community has nominated LightWave as a contender for the CG Awards by 3D World magazine. This year, we are excited to announce that LightWave 2015 is nominated in two categories: Software Update and Software Innovation. We would also like to recognize Juanjo Gonzalez for his 3D Hall of Fame nomination in recognition of his work with OctaneRender and LightWave 3D. Judging concludes in a few months and we look forward to the results!
Get Ready for Gangoul & Tricksy!
Tricksy Media is moving forward with its animated short Gangoul & Tricksy, which is targeting a Halloween release. Working with LightWave in the pipeline, the team is making progress with the short and has released a new teaser that is both intriguing and creepy at the same time. We look forward to seeing the short and encourage you to check out the teaser for a little inspiration to create your own animated short with LightWave.
