LightWave to SketchFab Plugin Now Available
The LightWave 3D Group and SketchFab Inc. have teamed up to deliver a free plug-in for LightWave 11.5 or higher that seamlessly exports 3D models from LightWave to SketchFab, a popular online web platform that you can use to publish, share, embed, and view 3D models interactively in real time. The Space Command Challenge is On!
A new LightWave challenge has been revealed and you're invited to participate! Take the challenge and build a spaceship for the upcoming "Space Command" movie. Two spaceships will be chosen with the winner or winners receiving screen credit, a suite of products from the LightWave 3D Group, and more. Get all the details here. Deadline is July 31, 2014.
The Mystery of "Golem"
This popular animation from Tobias Weisner and Patrick McCue takes the viewer on a visual journey, one inspired by Stanislaw Lem's short story "Golem XIV" of "Imaginary Magnitude" released in 1973. LightWave plays a key role in the creation of this Vimeo Staff Pick. Have a look and prepare to contemplate.
3D Printing the Hubble Telescope
LightWave artist Don Foley shares one of his first 3D printing projects—recreating the Hubble Telescope. While on assignment at the Goddard Space Flight Center to illustrate the project, Foley studied the ground-based replica and has now recreated it in LightWave for 3D printing. View the project and if you want to print a Hubble of your very own, the file is available for $15.
3D Garage Unveils Medical Courseware for LightWave 11.x
Travel inside the human body with one simple tool—LightWave. Dan Ablan, 3D artist and author of numerous books and videos about LightWave, has announced a new 3D Garage Video Courseware for medical modeling and animation using LightWave. Scheduled to ship July 31, 2014 at a price of $129, 3D Garage is offering a pre-order price of $68.50 for early shoppers.
