San Antonio, TX – December 12, 2017 – NewTek, Inc., announced availability of LightWave™ 2018, the new iteration of their comprehensive 3D animation system. The software for Windows® and Mac® operating systems will be available on January 1, 2018 at 12:01am GMT. LightWave 2018 introduces new features that are ideal for physically based rendering, VR rendering, and more. It also extends the functionality of popular features like the buffer system, FiberFX, cel-shading, object deformations, and others.

Force of Will Co., Ltd., the company in charge of planning, developing, and selling the world-famous trading card game Force of Will, have decided to work on an anime adaptation project. Aiming for a 2018 release, the first step in this project is Force of Will the Movie. Along with the announcement of this project, six Japanese companies are working on their own animations, each approximately 15 minutes long. The Oscar-nominated director Shuhei Morita and his team at YamatoWorks have been working on “L.S”, a project based on the Cthulhu Mythos. Using the creative power of LightWave 3D, the team was able to work on this important project and bring Shuhei Morita’s stunning animation to life. This year's edition of the Sundance Film Festival ended last night and Black Holes—a 12 minutes’ 3D animated short created in LightWave 3D—was finally revealed to public during the 10-day festival. According to the independent filmmaking news IndieWire, Black Holes was one of the 10 Must-See shorts at this year’s festival. Turkish company Abyss GameWorks discussed the production of their new adventure game

Developed using LightWave 3D and Unreal Engine 4, Tartarus is a new FPS action/adventure game set in 2230 in a dark sci-fi universe. Targeted for PC & MAC, this first-person adventure with text-based elements is expected to be released on Steam in 2017. Turkish-based company Abyss GameWorks discussed the production of their new adventure game on the online game magazine 80 Level.

Directed by French artists David and Laurent Nicolas (Noodles California), "Black Holes" is a 3D Animated TV Series based on "Pierre le Cosmonaute" project (2000). With a unique graphic style, "Black Holes" revolves around an astronaut overwhelmed by frivolous insecurities while preparing for the most important mission of his life: the conquest of Mars. Selected at 2017 Sundance Film Festival for the Animated Short Films Category, the pilot will be presented during the festival. The team gives us an insight into their creation process and how they used LightWave 3D in their pipeline to create this animated series.
