Director and Lecturer at Media Design School in Auckland (New Zealand,) Oliver Hilbert talks to us about Escargore, the latest third-year production completed in four months by a group of 22 students. He shares with us their creation process and how they used ChronoSculpt in their pipeline to create this beautiful short!
“There was a point during animation where some of the shots had very challenging deformation requirements. One such example would be when the snail climb's up over the door sill. We started looking at shot scuplting approaches that would work well with our pipeline we had set up for the film. ChronoSculpt seemed to allow us to quite correct those deformation issues on a per shot basis - very quickly and easily”
Blending horror and comedy, Escargore is already recognized around the world, winning Best Animated Film at the Idaho Horror Film Festival, Best Film Award at the Geek Short Film Festival 2015, and the Best Character category at the 2015 animago AWARDS.
