The DDS image loader supports most formats, for a detailed list see the readme file included in the download.
The image saver automatically selects an output format so that the image data it receives from LW is saved without quality loss. For dds image format selection, mipmap generation etc. there are free standalone tools or photoshop plugins which offer much more functionality than this plugin would.
