Depth of Field
Depth of Field (DOF) is the area that appears in focus in front of and behind the focal point of a picture. LightWave's new Depth of Field (DOF) offers photorealistic lens effects, including f-stop and exposure blooms, lighting artifacts and out-of-focus aberrations known as "Bokeh Effect". You can also preview DOF in realtime in the user interface, to receive immediate feedback of your DOF adjustments.
Photoreal Motion Blur
True 3D motion blur has been implemented in LightWave v9.2. Now you can enjoy smooth 3D motion blur that matches the effect of live action blur as it appears on film. Animatable parameters for shutter speed and blur length enable you to tune the look of the blur to match film speed, aperture settings and exposure lengths, for a fully customizable look.
Global Illumination and Final Gather
Global Illumination and Radiosity have been significantly improved to provide faster and higher quality renders. With LightWave v9.2 you will be able to easily create photorealistic scenes, characters and products while simulating the effect of real-world lighting in photography.
Material Shaders
When the Node Editor was introduced in LightWave v9; it paved a new way to quickly create customized surfaces. The Node Editor has been developed even further for LightWave with the introduction of the Material nodes, which duplicate real surfaces.
Dielectric
Dielectric is a physically accurate glass and liquid shader.
Conductor
Conductor is a shader node for physically accurate metal.
Sigma
Sigma is a material node that provides highly accurate detail for the creation of translucent solids such as, marble, paint and gemstones.
Simple Skin
Simple Skin is a physically accurate skin material shader with subsurface scattering.
Anti-Aliasing
LightWave v9.2 introduces a new approach to anti-aliasing. You will experience cleaner render results and have greater control over balancing image quality with render speed.
Create Rows
Create Rows is a new modeling tool in LightWave v9.2 that creates a row of polygons based on the first and last set of points selected. The order of selected points between the first and last selected does not affect the tool.
Select Entire Surface
Select Entire Surface selects all the polygons making up the surfaces of the polygons that are currently selected.
Select Entire Part
Select Entire Part selects all the polygons making up the parts of the polygons that are currently selected.
Select Path
Select Path selects a shortest path (there can be multiple) between two elements. The selected elements can be of any type (vertex, edge, and polygon).
Loop Expand
Loop Expand expands an edge selection along an edge loop.
Loop Contract
Loop Contract shrinks an edge selection along an edge loop.
